Al-Hilal Crowned Champion of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup for the Tenth Time in History

Al-Hilal clinched the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Cup title on Saturday evening, defeating their traditional rival Al-Ittihad 2-1 in the final match held at King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah.
The match saw outstanding performance by Serbian striker Aleksandar Mitrović, who scored both decisive goals for Al-Hilal (in the 7th and 69th minutes), while Moroccan forward Abdulrazak Hammadallah netted Al-Ittihad’s sole goal (51st minute). Al-Hilal dominated the first half, but Al-Ittihad equalized after halftime before the Blue Team sealed the victory with just 20 minutes remaining.
Al-Hilal’s head coach, Portuguese manager Jorge Jesus, stated: “This victory is the result of months of collective effort. The tenth title adds a new chapter to the record of Saudi clubs.” Meanwhile, Al-Ittihad’s president, Anmar Al-Haile, commented on his official account: “The loss is painful, but we highly appreciate the players’ performance, and we will return stronger.”
Al-Hilal achieved an 89% pass accuracy rate compared to Al-Ittihad’s 83%, and recorded seven shots on target. Saleh Al-Shahri was named Man of the Match, while international referee Abdullah Al-Balawi issued 26 decisions in his match report.
This title marks Al-Hilal’s tenth Cup victory since the tournament’s inception in 1957, further solidifying their position as the most decorated club in the competition’s history. Al-Ittihad, by contrast, has won the trophy twice (in 1958 and 2022). The match drew a crowd exceeding 50,000 spectators, under heightened security measures.
Al-Hilal’s path to the title began with a 3-0 win over Al-Fayha in the Round of 16, followed by a 2-1 victory over Al-Taawoun in the quarterfinals, and a dramatic 3-1 comeback against Al-Shabab in the semifinals. This achievement serves as the crowning moment of a Saudi football season marked by exceptional competition among domestic clubs.
